On June 13, 2018 the Global Policy Institute held a GPI Exchange Event, featuring Ted Boone, Assistant General Counsel, Ernst & Young LLP; Adjunct Professor, Georgetown University Law Center.
Mr. Boone’s very engaging presentation really connected with the audience composed of BAU students and other guests. It focused on the principles of structuring and negotiating a specific international commercial transaction. The goal was to make the participants focus on the architecture of international transactions, highlighting techniques and negotiating strategies for implementing such transactions.
The talk took place through a collaborative and dynamic format of discussion, analysis of readings and negotiation simulations. Divided into teams, all the participants had to review documents and develop their own negotiating positions and modalities on how to present their points to the opposing side. The exercise illustrated rather vividly how business and legal teams must work together to achieve success.
GPI Exchange is a series of meetings between experts and other analysts, students, policy-makers and media in an informal setting that allows a high level of productive interaction between the experts-presenters and the audience.
