Brian G. Karamuka is a current GPI researcher focusing on foreign affairs, global security, and international development. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations, as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is originally from Rwanda, and his early professional experiences included stints at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda, and the Rwanda Governance Board.
Brian first started working with GPI as an Intern is early 2020 while pursuing his MBA degree. After graduating, he spent time working with the National Democratic Institute (NDI), contributing to NDI’s work on strengthening democratic and governance institutions, as well as fostering political participation and electoral integrity in Sub-Saharan Africa. Brian also briefly worked with the United Nations Foundation (UNF) to support UNF’s efforts in engaging various UN agencies, stakeholders and global partners on issues pertaining to the state and progress of the Sustainable Development Goals. He subsequently made his return to GPI in early 2024. Brian’s academic and professional interests include history, international relations, global security and foreign policy, economics, and international development, among others. He is an avid reader, and follower of world events, U.S., and global politics.
